You're talking about a normal, 4.7Gig DVD-R for burning in a home computer?

If so, for some reason your computer is mis-reading the size. Maybe the disc was closed improperly or something.

Why not try copying it to your hard drive and see how big it is then? If it reads the same, use something like DVD2ONE or Instant Copy.

  5. Recordable/rewritable DVDs have a max size of 4.38Gb. No recordable/rewritable DVDs over 4.38Gb exist. If they do, then I've been lied to all this time as I was told time and time again that they don't exist.

Also if 7Gb DVDR/RWs really do exist, would we have a need for DVD9to5 proggies like DVDShrink, PIC, DVD2One, DVD95Copy, DVDXCopy, etc? Why would we compress a movie or span it into 2 discs if we can just copy it into 1 disc without sacrificing PQ?

So, either the DVD is dual layer (commercially pressed DVD) or it is indeed a recordable DVD but somehow your machine is incorrectly reporting the size, as leebo has stated.
