The two basic kinds are the disks which let you print on specially backed disks, and the ones which print a thermal image on normal CD-R(W)s and DVD-R(W) (click here)s.

As far as I know the only device that will print on the cD's or DVD's you already burned for less than a thousand dollarls
is the HUNDRED DOLLAR CASIO CW-50 ( its advertised on this site for twice the price i got it at J&R, NY)
this prints a small strip under the label in one of 6 color (GREY is bad -you can't see it too well...)
Text is best but the 6 dollar ribbons last 30 to 40 print events unless you do graphics

. The other rout is the INKJET.. This you havt'a buy special CD's or DVD's in 2 colors availabale WHITE or SILVER
The inkjet has come down to the affordable $380.00 EPSON9650 or 950 printer..
But your CD and DVD blanks will cost several dollars more if printable forms
Below EXAmples (even got a pic of my DAD on the disc with the CASIO in one color!
