  1. How about it? I have the 0.54 firmwave. I was told not to upgrade to 1.0 or 1.2 due to bs whitelists. What do you all think about my question? I'd like to burn @ 4x, but I will use 2x media if they're cheap enough.

What brand and where to buy?

    Thanks

  2. The Ritek 4x media is about $2 a disc, they are pretty good.

  3. Do you have a 105? If so what firmware are you using with that media?

Also, who sells them for 2 bucks a pop?

    Thanks

As you have a 105/A05 why not upgrade to the latest hacked firmware (1.30) which allows you to not only write at 2x on 1x media but allows you to rip at 12x ! (+ region free as a bonus..)

PS - 1x Ritek media is dirt cheap now (and of course you can write to it reliably at 2x) 4x media is still overpriced IMHO..

www.doom9.org has the link on the news page for the FW upgrade ...

  5. I have to agree with TeeeRex. I just updated to the newest hacked firmware for my 105, and I'm burning the Ritek G03's at 2x without any problem. Rima has them for $1.10 a disk. I believe that's the cheapest, but most places are pretty competitive with that price. The Ritek 4x you can find for as cheap as $1.80 a disk or so. I guess you really just have to decide if the extra 15 minutes you'd save with the 4x is worth the 70 cents.

  7. Where can I get the 1.3 hack firmware? also, can you flash to an older version of firmware? I've read horror stories about people upgrading thier firmware and then not being able to use generic media at all (read or write).

    Thanks.

Yes you can downgrade as I understand and yes the "upgrade" works well.

I used only 1 4x disk so far and it was Ritek, other then that i use Ritek G03 at 2x with no problems, I've been though hundreds. I take that back out of the hundreds maybe one or two disk have ever given me trouble.

  9. Will that firmware also work with the cendyne dvr-105? Thats what I have but in the device manager it says it's a Pioneer DVR-105...

  10. With the hackfirmware, can you burn G03 at 2x using Nero?

    Thanks,
    Rick

Wow, the 1.3 hacked firmware is great; upgraded with no problems.

Where do you guys buy your G03 Ritek media? How can I be sure it'll be that stuff? Also, where did you get the 4x?

    Thanks!
