  1. I have an mpg VCD thats in 5 parts and am attempting to merge them into a single file using tmpgenc.

Everything appears to work okay but when merged what was part 3 loses sound about a third of the way into the file.
Playing part 3 individually plays falwlessly.

If I seperate the audio and video I also get an audio stream of part 3 that works individually but if I merge with the other audio streams then part 3 jumps to part 4 at the same point.

I can't see anything different in the properties of the pt 3 audio stream and it continues to play perfectly as an audio stream and mpg but only if played individually... so the problem has to relate to the mergins as far as I can tell but I'm clueless how to fix it.

I asked much the same question on TMPGEnc bbs and someone suggested using another program but when I tried Wombat I couldn't figure out how to save my joined clips... only seems to let you join them for playback not for saving.

btw I'm also looking for a simple mpg player (pref freeware) that supports variable speed playback so I can slow mpgs down to at least about 1/4 speed

    TIA

  2. Are the files mpg or avi ?, if they are the first then you are going to have problems combining them. I tried joing three 500mb files. The sound was bang on for the whole flick however I only got three seconds of picture.

TMPGEncs mpeg tools work fine - if the mpegs where created with TMPGEnc in the first place! If not, then be prepared for all kinds of problems!

  4. They're mpg and I have no idea what they were created with... however it was only pt 3 of 5 that gave me grief.... I combined 1 & 2, and 4 & 5 without a problem.

MyFlix allowed me to combine the 3 resulting files w/o the sound problem though.
