  1. Hi all. I have an mpeg video file which I would like to mix audio into from mp3 files. Could someone steer me towards a good (preferably free) program which does this. I don't need anything fancy...just something that can mix mp3 sound files with mpeg video files. Thanks.

You can use TMPGEnc (simple multiplex) for multiplexing audio into MPEG video streams.

Note that you have to convert the mp3 audio to mpeg audio, or better to AC3 (is more compliant). You can use BeSweet for that.

  3. I tried AC3s and tmpgenc, but I get error messages 50% of the time during
the merge (something about an illegal dolby AC3 stream or, I forget exatctly).

I also tried merging mp3 files with the video. I never get any error messages then. But then, it never works either; the audio track is always silent.
