  1. My Philips USB drive just clunked out after only 6 months, and I would like to replace it. Only recorded at 2x speed amyway. Have heard good things about lite-on cdrw drives. A Price watch search yielded 2 lite-on 48x24x48 drives for 44 bucks including shipping. 2 questions. How are these drive? And anyone deal with hardawredock.com? Reputable outlet? The other outlet, e1micro has too many extra charges that would be well above the promised 44 dollar pricewatch quote.(i.e. 3 dollars extra just for screws!!).

If you guys have bought a good lite-on drive, that has lasted more than 6 months, could you tell me where you got it from?

    Thanks a lot!

  2. For this week only,
Go to your local BESTBUY and pick up BUSLINK 52x24x52 CD-RW
it is on sale for 29.99, they are repack of AOPEN or LITE-ON's
for LITE-ON's drive, the box have SMART-BURN sticker on it!
    good luck!
i got a lite-on and it works fine, i bought 2 buslink for my family member, which was a AOPEN and it works great too, since they only use it to copy music..if u want to back up games, i would recomand go with lite-on drive.

  3. Odd forum since this is the DVD writer forum... but if there is no CD Writer *shrug* anyway, how long does a full disc take on one of those 52x burners? I removed my 40 speed plextor recently since I didn't have enough power cables for everything in the box right now (5 hard drives, 2 DVD burners and a DVD-ROM for ripping) and my DVD burner is only 16x on CD's (the other is 12x) but it only takes like 7 or so minutes to do a full disc, it took like 5 for a full disc on the 40 speed, I'm just wondering is the 52 really any faster than the 40 since you'll only get 52 speed at the very edge of the disc anyway..

heh, simple question tons of exposition I guess.....

  4. I'll take the plunge and buy a Lite On 52x24x52 CDRW Model LTR-52246S Retail for 48 bucks plus 6 bucks fed ex shipping from newegg.com. The companies that pricewatch yielded for 48x and 52x lite-on models would end up costing 65 dollars because for some reason they charge 13-17 dollars for UPS ground shipping!!

There isn't a separate cdr hardware forum..and the topic heading said cdr hardware was also kosher.
