  1. Hi All

I need some advice for TMPGEnc. When I set my End Frame and then click the Start Button, that starts to generate my mpg file. On the end frame what should I set this to so that when my Output File is saved its around 650MB or 700MB please?

    Many thanks

Not really sure why you'd need to do that.....

If you're using the source range function then I assume you're encoding a movie that is too big to fit on a single cdr....if you're going to use 2 cdrs then its best to split the movie exactly in the middle and then change the bitrate (if making svcd) until it uses up around 99% of the cdr...that way you don't get any wasted cdr space and you get the highest bitrate possible......if you alter the length of the first half in order to achieve close to 700MB then you will be wasting space on the second cdr....if you know what I mean.

Is it VCD or SVCD you're making?

If SVCD then what I said earlier applies...ie split in middle and then adjust bitrate till it uses up 99% of each disc.....might as well use the space on the cdr rather than waste it!

If VCD then obviously you're limited to 1150 bitrate.....so you still might as well spilt in the middle, cos if you use up all the space on the first CD you'll have a lot of wasted space on the second CD...better to even the wastage between the 2 CDs if only to achieve some sort of continuity in the running times of each half.

If its XVCD you're making then the same principle for SVCD applies...in that you can adjust the bitrate to fit.

Basically.....unless its VCD, you should always end up with both CDs being about 99% full...cos if you've got space to spare you might as well use it up with a higher bitrate.
