If you're just going to watch it on the computer, why bother doing an SVCD at all?

If you want to play SVCD's on your comp, you will need to download the codecs and/or a SVCD player. There are a few of them in the tools section (trials of course) that will play SVCD's.

I personally got WinDVD i believe, and it supported SVCD. You will have to buy it though, as the trial only supports 5 minutes of play back.

  4. For a FREE DVD and SVCD player I recommend VideoLan, look under tools section for link.

Most DVDrom drives come with the needed software.

The reason MSplayer will not work is not so simple. If the file is a MPEG2 it will play but if has sync information as in a real DVD or SVCD it will not play. I found that if you play a real SVCD it looks for the codec (never comes back). If I extract with ISObuster (F2M2 mode I think), It plays fine. Microsoft want you to pay $50 for the codec to play a DVD.

There are a few codecs you can try but I found VideoLan played smoother.
Note: do Not rest your mouse over the videolan console window.
