    i now have both dvd writer

    200i is a + which i know nothing about

    sony is + & -

    is it worth swapping the HP which is in the new pc i brought with the sont or leave it as it is??

    Go with the Sony. That way you will always have support from forum members (and it's a better drive too )

    I have the 300i & my cousin has the 200i & neither of us have made any coasters yet. I had plenty of coasters with my Pioneer-104 though. In my area it is my easier to find the + discs than the - discs too so my Pioneer is sitting in my closet. You might as well try the HP while its in there. If it ain't broke...don't fix it!
