Most programs that edit digital handle analog...I use the Pinnacle Studio7 or ULead DVD work shop to capture from video cam...the problem is getting into your PC...My capture card has the standard RCA composit audio and video for input stuff. Not as good as digital....but can capture from any source with RCA out.

Also when I started capturing...I got that time and date and counter thing in corner.....I just had to turn that off on video cam during play back for capture.

Yes, Virtual Dub is only one of several programs that do it for you. I mention it because it is my favorite for beginners and I still use it from time to time. Also, I have an analog camera (along with my digital) and both allow me to disable the time date indicator on video. Are you sure yours do not? I own a JVC GR-SXM240 analog camera, by the way.

The first problem is getting the footage from the camera into your PC. Once it's in your PC it's no longer analog anymore, more like analog converted to digital. That being the case, any editter can be used to crop, edit and filter the footage, just like as if it originally come from a DV source. It's better to do the processing in AVI format and not mpeg. Mpeg is usually the final step in outputting to VCD or DVD formats.

Hope that clears things up a bit. 8)
