Hi, I use the newest divx codec but I have been told by some ppl that some of the older versions are better? Is this true? and if so which do you use?

The older (v3 & 4) codecs were hacks of the Microsoft MPEG-4 codecs. Apart from that, they were a bit unpredictable and unstable. I have also heard that v.3 codecs were the best compressors but I challenge this. The current versions, 5.02, if used correctly and after a bit of experimenting, can produce excellent results and small size. Furthermore, they are better and properly made.
The more I learn, the more I come to realize how little it is I know. -
5.02
the newest 5.03,has problems and they know about it.they already have a beta 5.04 because of it.so right now 5.02 is the best. -
Well I have divx 5.0.3, but I find the encoding options very limited, does any1 else agree?

2pass (big resolutions)really small great quality small file sizes. BTW, I can't install divx3 on my xp anymore. Just glad I can view em with 5.

2-Pass encoding is also another plus of DivX 5.0.2.Originally Posted by TwIZzlEr
