Ok, I'm trying to figure this one out, I did search the forums,
and found the notations about the Quicktime Freeze.
But, this is what's weird...here we go...
Using Forty-two, I backed up a DVD-9( 7.6GB) with the following settings
to a DVD-5 (4.7GB):
Output Format: DVD
No subtitles
Audio English
Under the More section here's what I did:
Subtitles: no selection
language 128 english
Title: 1
Chapters: I left blank
Info told me: There are 1 titles on this disk
There are 61 titles on this DVD
There are 16 chapters in this DVD title
There are 1 angles in this DVd title
told Forty-Two to do its thing, and 8 hours later ( and I'm on a Dual 1GHZ
Powermac with 1.5 GB of RAM), it gave me a 1.8 GB mpg test file, and
a 1.9GB Disk Image.
Played the file, everything looked good.
Burned in toast titaninum 5.21,
to Comp-USA 4.7gb media.
Played it in my RCA5240, played fine audio great, picture within 90-965
of the original. But, 2/3rds into the movie, the picture freezes, and the audio continues on, until it finishes!!!
Now here's the weird part.
While I was testing this one out, I ran a test on another DVD-9,
and I followed the same settings with one exception:
Under the More section of this DVd, here's what I did:
Subtitles: no selection
language 128 english
Title: 1
Chapters: I chose 1-18 for chapters
Info told me: There are 1 titles on this disk
There are 18 titles on this DVD
There are 16 chapters in this DVD title
There are 1 angles in this DVd title
This took 14 hours on a my G4 ( I started it at 9 pm last night,after
restarting my g4, it finished at 12:35 pm today)
I got a 3.86 GB test mpg which I again verified with VLC and it played fine.
I also got a disk image of 3.86 GB as well.
Toast is now burning the DVD, and I have a strange feeling it be ok.
IS what happened to the first DVD the result of my not choosing
all the Chapters, and leaving it blank?
Does this have any affect on the final output DVD, or is it
the Quicktime bug?
I am using Forty-two 1.52b
OS X jaguar 10.24
Toast Titaninum 5.21
1.5 GB of Ram
Dual 1 ghz G4 w/Superdrive.
Thanks for any insight on this.....

Well,
Forty-two would not work with the DVD.
The second time out, it created a 566 MB .mpg test file,
and a 566.7MB disk iso image.
I followed wisemann's tutorial using OSex and
it worked great.
I don't know were 42 went wrong though.
