  1. Hiya.. I read earlier posts that recommend DVD writers
but i noticed they were a year ago I called sony and they're coming out with a new writer in a few months. Can anyone recommend
any other recent DVD RECORDERS (not connected to computer)?
The ones you can connect directly to your VCR or TV and convert videos to DVD?

And lastly can you play DVDs on your writer or do you have to
also buy a player (sorry i'm still on the rickety tape system).

Many thanks for your help in advance.

  2. Hi

    Don't know about the first.

Yes you can record VHS onto DVD, although of course the quality would only be as good as the input - that is to say, if the tape is bad quality, the DVD will be exactly the same, except forever (it won't fade or get worse as long as you don't scratch the disc)

You don't need another player - you can play all DVDs on most (all?) recorders.

  3. I don't know what kind of setup you have, but I have a DV500 capture card and the program Adobe Premiere 6.0. This works fine for capturing video. You have to do a few simple steps after capturing it to put it as a DVD or VCD, but its more time consuming than difficult.
If everything is infinite then nothing is definite.
