  1. Instant Copy Vs DVDXCopy! Which is better? Does Anyone have an opinion as to which software is better to make 1:1 copies. I'm alright with splitting up movies on 2 discs. I don't want to compress the video anymore. Even though the compression on some software seems to yield execellent results, the compression becomes more apparent on large widescreen TVs.

    Thanks

  2. Its no contest , If you dont want to lose any quality use DVDXCOPY, its a perfect copy of the original, If you use instant copy and have a long movie like 3 hours and you compress it you you definatley will see it in a big screen tv, Ive been using it for the past 5 months and found out half the movies fit on one disc if you omit some special feature but you still have the menu's and chapters.

"...before you judge look at the overall cost, the amount of user input required and the quality of results..."

"In the end it's a matter of individual perception and the level of quality delivered by the playback system"

it's no good asking questions about which is the best, the only way to judge them is to try them yourself as the are both better than each other in certain fields

IC has the better quality but DVD95Copy makes full use of the 4.37Gb and compresses menus/extras more efficiently so allocates more space to the movie making up for the quality difference

the best of the two, is actually the two of them used together

use IC for movie title and DVD95Copy for the extras and use Ifoupdate to merge them together, resulting in one top class backup that can't be beaten unless you use CCE

"Quality of results" " level of playback delivered by the playback system" what are you talking about NOT Instantcopy , DVD2ONE and DVD95copy can match DVDXCOPY's quality WHY? because DVDXCOPY does not compress anything its has the same resolution as the original, You do have to put some movies on 2 discs but some people dont mind.
by the way I got my version free borrowed it from my brother.

    LOL

I actually started posting that reply a few minutes after the thread was started and took an hour to write it

DVDXCopy, didn't know people still used it, and just skip read and seen the DVD and Copy and assumed 95 was inbetween

you can compress it to 85% of original using IC and unless you Pause the DVD and you've borrowed COCKLES 'PIXEL ANALYSIS QUANTUM DIFFERENCE GOGGLES' then you won't really see the difference during playback

the minimal difference in quality don't justify having to get up and switch DVD's unless you have a multiDVD player

If I want top quality for any reason I pull out the originals, just cos you've backed them up don't mean you can never use them again

  6. Oh, well I tried Instantcopy it just takes too long to process, I tried DVD2one its very fast, I like that program and use it sometimes too.
You will notice a bigger difference if you compress a huge movie like Minority report or Schindlers list, especially on a 60" TV.

    Use what works for you

I mostly use DVDXCOPY because I plan on buying a 60" HDTV and dont want to lose any quality and later on will get a progressive scan DVD changer.
