  1. I've spent two weeks and I can't solve this sync issue...

    Hello,

    My friend is getting into ianime and I've been ripping him a few eps mainly b/c I don't want him to touch my collections. Now I have EVA and I ripped the first disc (original printing that was interlacted [all my other discs dvd2avi reports them as teleclined]) but the second is a biznitch!

    I can't get the video synced with the subs and audio (the audio and subs are synced but the picture isn't).... I've tried MANY thing...leave it at 29.97 and then IVTC doesn't owrk...force film and then de-interlace doesn't work...I even tried to resync the subs.

    Now I looked and did a search on this forum and it seems there was a topic (mentioned by someone who was helping someone else) that dealt with this indepth but I can't find it (I tried seraching Eva, Neon, Evangelion, and Genesis)

    So i'm sasking for help...

    BTW if I DON'T add subs the audio and video sync perfectly.

    I serached many sub threads and if I can't do it I'll prolly F my friend but I'm not such a mean guy and it'd be nice to have backups just in case (350 megs each episode )

    If ANYONE can help...thanks! I'm using Gnot v.27 and I'm not a total techie but I definitely know my way around Gknot (And Virtual Dub but I'm no expert)

    ===============

    part2

    Okay I've tried more stuff but still nothing....What I did was load up a program called SUBRIP and I got it converted to .SSA and thenloaded it up with Substation Alpha. I went then and quickly converted my .ac3 to .mp3 and then using Winamp I quickly mad e a8bit, mono, 480000khz (I forced it to that...should it have been 44.1k?) and found that the first talking part occurs 943MS faster than the subs...meaning I should push the subs up ahead right?

    I though I had won

    So I went to Gknot opened up my original vobsub subs and put 943 and it wasn't syncing with the picture so I tried a negative just to see if anything happens and nothing would happen. I tried slightly adjusting it and it threw the subs off a LOT (there was a huge difference betwenn 943 and 850)

    Just to make sure...1000ms=1 sec? ya?

    So does anyone have any idea what to do? PErhaps a new ripping approach because I'm very confused over what should/might happen.

    BTW, sorry about my n00b approach in attempting to rip it (IE winamp and how I got the timings and whatnot)

    Thanks

    ==========

    part 3

    Well again my attempt failed

    The audio and video were still outta sync so i opened up my MP3 in Nero Wav Editor and I notice that the file was 2 seconds longer and it was represnted in the very beginning so I chooped off EXACTLY two seconds (not even 1.9999....2.0000) and it was playing the intro in sync but after 2 minutes the difference began to appear and by 6 minutes its crazy (those MS add up quickly)

    Has anyone encoded Evangelion Discs 2-8 USA and able to get the audio, video and subs synced? Thanks!

    Edit:

    Btw, I am trying to pack as much information in each post/problem as I know because I know the more information the easier it is to find out the exact problem. I know that you'll probably know nothing if I just say "Neon Genesis Evangelion audio is not in sync...what do I do" and I write so much because I'm hoping it will yield a correct answer. That and sometimes I post at dvdrhelp and its kind of frustrating trying to help a user who wants to fit his 14 DVD collection at full quality on 1 CDR and doesn't give out anything but vague infromation. But thanks to anyone who takes the time to repond

  2. Hello once more, and in a feeble attempt to get help I am describing it in greater detail. I decided to rip again but this time I noticed that Cells 1-3 were odd and had nothing but a blank and that the movie was in cell4. Now I tried ripping like that and amazing the audio went into sync- so I am successful right there.
    But the subtitles isn't in sync- its approximately 45 seconds off and I'm not sure why its like that. Does anyone have I clue or can anyone give a solution? Also what is the best resync utility that is fairly easy? I feel I am "winning" this battle against my collection and I really need help =)

    Thank you
