Well as the title says I own Canopus raptor rt capture card. The problem I am having is that the avi file I capture has black lines in it, exspecially when movements accurre. I just bought a new computer and it is still the same problem. I'm using winxp pro ,512 DDR memory, 2.0 p4, now and the latest canopus driver (2.0 I think), and got all the latest drivers in my computer as well. I've captured through canopus capture program and through premiere too, with same results. Now I just upgraded to premiere 6.5 and still the same problem. When I then convert it to mpeg-2 on a dvd everything seems to be fine. But still I would like to be able to watch my avi in my computer with full quality. Any suggestions?![]()

Sounds like interlacing…if you plan on watching the movies on your PC only then you will need to de-interlace (at a quality loss, but will remove the lines*artifacts* in your video). Stuff that is intended for viewing on your television should be left interlaced (Unless you have a HDTV & Progressive standalone).
Try a software DVD player that de-interlaces during playback. The Ravisent CineMaster 2000 dose a nice job on my Sony 19” HD Computer Monitor. I’m sure you can find others that will do the same! Finding software that will play the source AVI de-interlaced…I doubt it.
Can you post some screen shots from you Canopus…I am in the market for a High End capture card! -
Did you install in the right order? You need to install Premiere first and then the Canopus software.

Did you choose Canopus as your compressor/player in Premiere? If you picked another like Quicktime, it may not play DV properly and therefore getting interlace problems... if it is an interlace problem.

Yes I installed the canopus software after installing adobe premiere. Also I did start with the canopus dv pal settings so everything there should be in order.

Well your answare sounds very likely to be the case, and as I said before it comes out perfect on dvd, thoug I had a little trouble with that at the beginning. It seemed that if I allowed adobe mpeg encoder to convert to mpeg2 or the mydvd the quality wasn't so good, but after I tried "tmpgenc" software everything looks great. Maybe I just needed to adjust the adobe mpeg encoder but...
If I understood you correctly, you wanted a screen-shoot but I can't put them here can I? I can e-mail them to you if you want, np.Elvar Birgisson

Here is my e-mail 808state@beer.com
You can also post them here but the file size must be under 50k. I think I would rather see an uncompressed screen shot in my mail
Thanks Much!
