Converted DV AVI to 'DVD-quality' MPEG with Pinnacle Studio 7. Conversion parameters were 6000 kbits/sec, 48000kHz audio, 720x480.
When I try to open in TMPGEnc, I get the "..can not open file or file format not supported.." error message.
Is this because of the high kbits/sec? Bug with Pinnacle? Is there a setting that can be changed/adjusted so TMPGEnc will open this file?
Thanks in advance....

TMPG will not accept mpeg-2 as input, unless you want to cut, mux etc. You can frameserve from DVD2AVI following the procedure in the guide to convert SVCD to VCD.

Everything I'm reading elsewhere is saying don't use Pinnacle's mpeg convertor at all as TMPGEnc is better. Capture to avi with Pinnacle & convert it to mpeg with TMPGEnc.
