    Hey everyone,

I am continually having difficulties in DVD to SVCD transfers. Anyone that would be willing to dedicate some time in teaching me (i have tried all the online tutorials) in teaching me how to do this properly with getting the best results possible, could you please send me a private message?

I know it is asking a lot, but i think i am just simply doing one simple thing wrong, as having a box unchecked somewhere or something.

thanks in advance to all that have time to help me out.

Try DVD2SVCD. Don't delete files, then read through the log file for everything it did. You can go back and see all the files created in the interim of finally producing a high quality SVCD. Once you have tried this, you may never do it the hard way again.

The biggest settings are 2 pass VBR TMPGEnc verusus 4 pass CCE. And whetehr to fit it onto 2,3, or 4 CDR's

  4. DVDx is all you need(free in Tools).
    How to optimize DVDx:Input settings
1)in iDCT select correct setting for your CPU.
    2)select Force 24Hz
    3)uncheck(tick)Dolby Surround
You can expect 4min encoding per 1min of film.

  5. The best method to make SVCDS is using DVD2SVCD. The time it takes to encode a movie depends on which type of encoder you are using. I use Cinema Craft v2.5 and to encode a 2 hour movie it takes about 6 hours in One pass VBR mode. If you use TMPGenc to encode your movie it will take very long using CBR conversion. So i suggest you go with Cinema Craft encoder cuz its fast and produces good quality movies. I am only using a AMD athlon 600MHz with 256Mb of ram and it converts high quality movies.l

I think your PC has a lot of power to handle those conversions. good luck

    moviegeek,

perhaps i am mistaken, DVDx is a All-in-one DVD to VCD solution... i am trying to convert from DVD to SVCD. Arnt SVCD's better quality? or am i missinformed?

ps. my dvd player supports SVCD's so i thought they would be better quality (hense the "super")

btw, how do you guys that image on the left beside your name?? very coolage

  7. I have a 1.1 ghz atholon chip with 256ddr memmory and a 90 minute movie using tmpenc svcd (with all the high quality settings) take 20+ hours to convert. Now with CCE that time is cut in half and the quality is slightly better.

  8. DVDx can make Vcd AND Svcd,
but its a bit slow and the qulity is not that grate.
if you use tmpeg or cce, you will get better qulity for the same bitrate.
cce will produce a slightly better picture then tmpeg and will be faster.
if you need a quick guide for any of them just post a reply and
i will try to make you an eazy guide.
    goodluck.
