I accidentally received a Pixelview PlayTV Pro card (878A chipset) when I was supposed to get a Pixelview XCapture (881 chipset).
I currently have an ATi TV Wonder VE that also has an 878A chipset. I'm not wild about the picture quality, especially if I attempt to capture anything over 352*240 (NTSC).
My question is, are all 878A capture cards the same? Is it even worth trying it out or should I just send the thing back?

(878A capture cards the same?) Yes and new 881 only tab better then 878A chipset but it not going help with higher rez recording that you can count on.
The only option you have is a hardware base mpeg encoder.
Like Dazzle DVC2, WinTV-PVR 250/350 unless what blow some real cash for a Canopus card live the MVR-1000. -
I believe that the ATI All in Wonder cards use a proprietary chipset, but the TV Wonder VE (at least the one that I have) definately says Fusion 878A on the the chip.
