  1. Hey everyone...

    I'm having a few problems w/ my Yamaha CRW8824EZ. Here's what happened:

I had to format hy hard drive, and do a fresh install of win98 se. Ever since then, I've been having errors coming from my Yamaha CD-RW. I try to access it, and it always says its not ready. The strange thing is that I can eject the cd tray. So, what im trying to figgure out is why this thing doesn't want to respond at all. I was thinking its because of drivers not being present, but I cannot find any updated drivers. So, I'm sorta stuck here. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

  2. Sounds more like Windows not "seeing" the device. Go to My Computer icon on your desktop, right click, select properties, then device manager. Under CDROM click on the + to expand and locate your Yamaha burner. Select, while selected click on the remove button. Reboot and with any luck Windows will "see" it this time. If you have multiple lines for your Yamaha delete them all. DO NOT delete your regular CD drive if you also have one of those. Unless your drive is pretty old there should be no need to install any specific drivers other than those that come on the Windows CD disk. So have it handy in case Windows asks for it.

If you were messing with you system, first be sure your drive shows up properly in your BIOS.
