Do you have to inverse telecine ripped DVD's?

I loved the difference I saw when I used avisynth to inverse telecine my vhs captures but don't know if this step is needed when I convert vob files to mpegs to get a smoother picture. If it is needed, how can I use avisynth to do it? Thanks

Any studio worth its salt would produce videos that don't need IVTCing. The encode from the film source, then apply the necessary pulldown flags to get to 29.97fps.

Some very old DVDs (first year disks), though, might have been encoded at 29.97fps, but the newer stuff is almost always encoded at 23.976fps.

Why not just use DVD2SVCD that will IvTc vobs if it needs to be using avisynth.

Will DVD2SVCD do vcds as well as svcds? If it does, I'll try it. My main concerning is trying to minimize the artifacts and blocking that occurs with the mpeg 1 format of video cds.

Yes it will do vcd but it might not ivtc a vcd might only be svcd.
