Sony DRU500-UL VS Sony 500-ULX

Does anyone know the difference between the 2 Sony external writers?

I saw both at best buy today for the same price..

I am getting one for my birthday next week.

Is there a big difference and if they dont have one when I go back should I just get the other?

They are pricey..I want to make sure I get the best one.

I have a Sony DRX-500ULX. It is a DRU-500UL with factory applied firmware update and new packaging. Sony added the x to the firmware update applied at the factory so that they could advertise the drive as 4x (the update increased the max -R burn rate to 4x). IMO it's an awesome burner.

You could buy either one and apply the latest firmware update from Sony's web site and you've got the same burner.

PS I've had my DVD burner for 2 months now and have found it to be worth every penny of it's "pricey" cost!!!
