  2. From the Toast 4 manual in brief:

    CD-ROM XA "Mode 2-Form 2": 2324 B/sector for data
    CD-ROM XA "Mode 2-Form 1": 2048 B/sector for data

    CD-ROM Data Sector Mode 1: 2048 B/sector for data
    CD-ROM Data Sector Mode 2: 2336 B/sector for data

    Audio CD-ROM: 2352 B/sector for data

(X)SVCD uses CD-ROM XA "Mode 2-Form 2 block" format so 2324 B of a 2352 B sector is used for the actual MPEG2-data, and the remaining 28 B is used for minor error detection etc.

This explains why a 74 minute audio CD holds ~746.9 MB of audio data, ~738.0 MB of (X)SVCD MPEG2 data, and ~650.4 MB "computer" data because different CD formats store data differently.

Audio CDs hold much data but at the cost of error correction.
