  1. Hi, I just compiled a dvd home video project consisting of 4 short video segments. Each was m2v encoded using the adobe premier main concept codec with the following bitrates :
    min = 0
    avg = 6000
    max= 7500
    I have added an ac-3 5.1 audio track at 384kb/s.
    But when the project finished compiling in dvdmaestro the window pops up stating that the compilation was successful. However underneath that message it reads :

    1 Warnings :
    - During Muxing at least one instance of Buffer under-flow was detected. This is due to exceeding the Max. Bitrate.

    I can't understand it. I've made dvd's before and this has never happened. I got the message when I first encoded this project with a max bitrate of 8000 and thats why I re-encoded it to 7500. I ran bitrate viewer on the vobs I created in my video_ts directory and the max data rate it showed was 7610. However, I watched the project using power dvd and during numerous times it showed that the bitrate had reached 9.8 kb/s.

    Does anyone know whats going on here ? If I burn it to a dvd-r, will it work in player ? Any info would be extremely helpful.
    Thanks,
    garyk

    This is just a warning about your VBV (Video Buffer Verifier) underflowing. My understanding of this warning is that a VBV is important for a CBR encode, but it is not so important for a VBR encode.

    This happens to me at times, but I just ignore it and trudge on. The resulting video is okay.
