  1. Hi ppl, i need some PRO help here.

I want some suggestions here about making interlaced PAL MPEG2 720x576 and 704x576 from DVD/ DVB-S (DVB source is comparable with DVD) to VCD without getting ghostings and other stuff.

I've tried with the "even field (adaptive)" and "odd field (adaptive)" de-interlacing filters in tmpgenc, and the result is a bit edgy =(
the "double de-interlacings" filter takes away the edges, but the result is a blurry and ghosted vcd =(

at this time "even field (adaptive)" seems to be the best de-interlacer for this, plays fine but as i said, it gets a bit edged =(.

i need all help i can get.
    thanx

  2. which decoder do you use?
most mpeg-2 decoders mess up the color-channels in interlaced sources...

    try dvd2avi - might help.
you might not need the adaptive mode at all with dvd2avi - just the normal "even field" or "odd field" mode...

you might also try to reduce the picture-size exactly 1:2.
    without any de-interlacing that means...

    --------------------------------

the best de-interlacer i know is DScaler - but the direct-show filter is only beta and i know of no plan to make a avisynth/vfapi port

    bye,
