  1. Hi gurus, I have searched a while for this and think my situation must be unique. Here is what I am trying to do.

I own a hitachi dvdcam camcorder ntsc version, and I have some pal VHS home movies. I tried to record the movies onto my camcorder, so I could then put the data on my hard drive and convert to svcd. The video recorded onto my camcorder -but had lines going through it, etc (because it's pal and my camcorder is ntsc). Does this mean the recorded video is useless? Or can I take the recorded video and use an application to clean it up and make it viewable? I know my way around tmpgenc a little, but if what I need to do requires a 25 step process I guess I'll forget it. Thanks for any help.

I believe your recorded video is uesless. Have you considered capturing the VHS video directly into your computer? I know some companies make analog to video converters like Dazzle and Canopus that can capture your VCR video into your computer as DV.

If DV is not that big of a deal to you, you can can capture your VCR analog video directly into your computer.
    Hello.
