My main problem.. I cant play any dvd-r without it locking up in my Apex Ad-1100w or ad-1010w or Power DVD.

My system > (if profile isnt working) is WinXP,(currently upgrading to sp1 now.)P4,256MB,Maxtor 40g hd,Cyndene 105 DVD burner.

I use DVD decrypter (in file mode) and then use dvd2one(registered user) and then burn with Nero Express. Nero Express came with my DVD writer. I updated it to 551015a.

I'm sure it is not DVD related.. I have tried 4 different dvd's and all eventually lock up...meaning the video freeze's.I have no trouble decrypting them nor do I have any trouble with dvd2one.

I have tried in both DMA if available mode and PIO only mode..

The media I have been using is Khypermedia, and I am only burning at 1x
Any help or comments is appreciated..I am getting fed up after a month of having this dvd writer I see it now has an extra $50 rebate on it now that I didnt get..Thanks for any comments

Just wanted to add> instead of watching the whole movie I just skip chapter by chapter and thats how I find out if the dvd-r will play all the way>which has not happened yet.

Well, I can only suggest that you try a higher quality media. Try some TDK or Apple DVD-Rs and seen if it improves. I have the Cendyne 105 as well and I really haven't had too many problems. Most notable problem is unreliable play back in notebook DVD drives. On the notebooks, I have had the best luck with TDK and Apple. With my Proscan and Apex 500W, the play even Princo DVD-Rs flawlessly. I am not familiar with DVD2One. I use DVD Decrypter (in file mode) and Instant Copy 7 if it is a DVD9 or DVD Decrypter (in ISO read/write) if it is a DVD5. Again, only problems have been on notebook computers, one of which is quite old but the other is brand new. I know Nero Express had some issues but I think they worked then out before the version you are using. What mode are you using in Nero Express? Everyone says use ISO mode but I have had the best luck with the DVD Video wizard.

Give some TDK, Sony or Apple DVD-Rs a shot.

Well, to be honest I dont know how to pick any methods like ISO or UDF mode(where I have read about on here) It is not like Nero's Burning Rom..where you can pick those options.

    Two things,

    1. How large are all the files? Cheaper media has problems on the outer edge. This is seen as stutters, pixilation, and lockups. Two solutions,

Try to set DVD2ONE to 4000mb or less.
Buy better media. (Check the DVD media reports on this site. The brand you talk about hasn't been popular with other users due to the same problems your having.)

    2. If Nero's DVD Video mode wasn't compatible with your DVD Player, it wouldn't even load. Nero has an inherent problem with it's UDF mode. It uses the newer UDF standard that isn't mandated for DVD-Video use. The correct UDF mode is 1.02.

Dvd2One is set at 4472mb..>default I guess? the last movie I burned was 3.93g (looking at the VIDEO_TS folder).

But now that I have updated to XP SP1 I cant even burn the same movie..it fails before 50%.

Just to add..this is a fresh install of XP and nothing is running other than what XP installs, even messenger I disabled in Msconfig.

So..Im gonna uninstall NeroExpress and then re-install...
    Thanks for the help

  6. not real sure what nero express is but the latest version of nero works fine in the dvd-video template. I think they fixed that udf thing in the release before this one.

the media is a cheaper brand and i havent heard much good about it although ive never used it. try a different brand. I would reccomend apple, pioneer, vertabim, tdk, maxell. I have not had good luck with memorex or imation. they also speak highly about ritek around here although i cannot personally vouch for it.
