  1. I've got one for the experts here...

I'm trying to backup Beauty and the Beast (Disney).

I've ripped it successfully (I think). I'd like to use InstantCopy7 because of its simplicity...

The first question I have is this : how come three of the titles show up as being 5.74 GB in size, which doesn't make sense because of the DVD-9's capacity being limited to 9.4 Gigs ?

Now, when I run the transcoding with IC7, I get what seems to be a valid set of files.

I then open the movie in PowerDVD, and go to the movie's menu.

I select "Scene selection", and the first 4 chapters are displayed. So far, so good.

If I then want to go to the next 4 chapters, one would think that clicking on the right arrow at the bottom would do just that. Indeed, on the DVD-Decrypter-ripped movie files, it does just that. However, with the IC7-copy of the movie, the image of the 4 chapters never changes, no matter how many times I click on the arrow.

So, based on the fact that the copy doesn't work like the original, I've come to the conclusion that the original movie is somewhat Copy-Protected, or InstantCopy 7 doesn't work on that particular movie.

I would love it if someone who has that movie would try to back it up, just to see if they'd get the same result.

Does any expert out there have an idea where the problem is ?

    Thanks.

Try using IfoEdit to get VTS Sectors and save the IFO's and that might help. It seems to be a navigation problem. Doing this before every burn may help solving little mistakes like this and save you from making coasters. Let me know if it worked for you.

  3. To begin with, it seems as if IC7 takes its file size estimates not from individual titles, but titlesets. You'll notice if you manually change the file size for one of those titles which has an identical file size, the slider will change to the same percentage for all of them.

As for that "freezing," I've come across that with several of my IC7-copied DVDs, it seems to be a software bug in the program. After pressing your button, try hitting the "next" button on your remote, that's worked some of the time for me. To solve it? Well, I still haven't mastered IFOEdit, but I'm guessing you would have to delve into the menu commands and see what went wrong. Good luck, let me know if you fix it.
