  1. when i try and convert a movie to svcd,i always set the aspect ratio to 16:9, but when it has been converted it always comes out long and stretched, not in widescreen mode.
what can i do to make sure it always come as widescreen and not upwardsly stretched out?

EDIT: i play back the movie in windows media player after i have converted it into svcd in tmpge-nc, thats where the movie is abnormally long in height and the image stretched in height

EDIT: i have have no problems with making VCD's but its only the SVCD's that are a pain in the leg.

VCD and SVCD do not support 16:9. In order to achieve this, encode at 4:3 and set video arrange method as full screen (keep aspect ratio) on the advanced tab of the settings dialog.

What codec do you have for playing back SVCD in media player? I have the elecard one installed, and media player gets the aspect ratio entirely wrong (it really plays it back 480x480). Do you have a better software DVD player to try it in?

Having said that, I suspect Bugster is right about your problem.

  5. Media player doesn't seem to recognize aspect ratios. I encode at 352x480 for CVD and media player always shows it wrong. With PowerDVD the aspect ratio looks fine and on a DVD player it displays correclty.
