I have a Hauppauge WinTV Theater. I have read that you can capture higher than 320 x 240 but some changes need to be made. I have the options for going higher but no matter what program I use it errors out at these higher settings and doesn't capture. Does anyone have any idea what needs to be done? I have disabled Overlay as someone suggested. I am running Windows XP, AMD 2400+, 512DDR...VirtualDub, Ulead Videostudio, Pinnacle, My DVD, etc...
IF this card doesn't go any high what would be a good cheap solution for capture to DVD quality with stereo?

Use virtualdub and "Preview" mode when you capture.
Also, try with an mjpeg codec. Pic Video for example! -
I could never get VDUB to capture higher than 320x240. You card should go out to 720x480 ( or similiar PAL resolution, it uses the common video capture chip).
The latest BTWIN drivers do NOT work for me, I get PAL resolution only. Latest OEM drivers work just fine up to 720x480 @30 fps.
Try IUVCR (free 30 day demo) for capping to AVI. Try PowerVCR for caping in MPEG1/2.To Be, Or, Not To Be, That, Is The Gazorgan Plan
