Hi
Just got this link from a guy selling these dvd writers http://www.planetdv.net/Frameset.asp?show=content&rID=672&RC=16&RV=27 he gave me the link to compare the RRP with his price, but i noticed the claim that it produces dvd's 100% compatible with set top players, and wondered if anyone here had experiance of this drive, or if they new about the site linked to (is it just plain lieing?).
If this was true, apart from long recording times (1x write), this would be the ultimate drive.

It really isn't the burning drive that is the issue, some Players just are not able to read DVD-R or +R or -RW or +RW. And then you have different quality of media as some players will not read some media.
So this sounds like an exageration of the truth, if not an outright attemp to make this drive sound better than other drives.
I have an very old RCA Player that will only play TDK DVD-R media, not Memorex or Fuji (while my two SONY DVD players and all PC DVD-ROMS play all the media perfectly.) I'd put money down that most DVDs burned on this advertised drive will not play on my RCA, and that would debunk the 100% statement they make.Cendyne/Pioneer 105 & 104 with a Dazzle* Hollywood DV-Bridge. -
The Panasonic drive is an Old drive, about as old as the Pioneer 104. There is no such thing a 100% compatible DVD-R drive. DVD-R is about 85% Compatible and DVD+R with the Bit setting set to "DVD-ROM" is about 85% compatible.

Yeah, thought so.
Looks like i am still saving for an pioneer 105 then.

What everyone else said is true.
I have the LF-D311, it isn't any more compatible than an A03, or any other DVD burner.
That price listed is high. LF-D311 can be had for less than $200 in the US if you shop around.
The Toshiba SD-5002 is around $180, but only 2x burns.
