Real newbie question here: I have a divx movie that is 63 minutes long. I would like to convert it to svcd (80min) but Tmpgenc plus keeps indicating the file will be too large (105% of 80 min cdr it says). I tried cbr and vbr but it always indicates 105%. The bitrate is set at 1600 and can't be lowered. Is there a way to get it to fit? maybe another trick or tool? If not I have to make a vcd which is a lot uglier.
In forums I read people put 65 minutes of svcd on a cdr so is this possible?

To do this you need to make a non-compliant svcd. To do this finish the wizzard and entering the lowest brite, find a brite calc and work out what you brite you need, then click load (in TMPGenc) and load "unlock," and change the brite and hit start

thanks. If I understand correctly I must go through wizzard, make a batch conversion, and then when I go to the batch screen, select the job and adjust minimum and maximum bitrate?
Just did that and now it is running so I don't know yet if this is what you meant.
I could not find a load/unlock feature so I hope this is right. -
Hope you like crap quality, cause thats whats you will end up with.
Why dont you use TMPGEnc or CCE to encdoe the DivX into a SVCD and then burn it to CD and have the best possible qualityiAMD64. µ

I AM using tmpgenc to create the svcd  I just need to know how to make an svcd when the divx is too long. 80 minute cd's is the biggest I can play here and tmpgenc won't make a file that fit's by default. That's why I asked here how to fit just a little more on a cd.
Do you know a better way to convert a 63 minute divx to svcd? -
i know a better way to make ur divx movie fit onto one cd-r without a problem
. just use one of my many svcd templates that i have and let TMPGE do the rest. u can mess around with the filters that are in the advanced tab of TMPGE to get sharper results and quality. and if u really wanna get way better results with svcd, try buying ridata from many media stores online, as these little babys can handle data of up to 990mb, which is 190mb extra than a normal 800mb cd could handle. that is almost 1G of data(wow). i have a lite-on cd-burner, so i can burn any type of cd-r media using nero to do the overburning process and play them on my apex. well i hope i was some somewhat of a help to u. good luck

sounds good. Where can I find your templates?
First cd finished and it fits. Looks pretty good still. -
To each his own, but for good quality using 2-pass VBR at standard SVCD resolution, I don't like to lower my avg. bitrate below 1800, and certainly not below 1600. Also, the bitrate required depends on the movie. A high amount of action scenes call for a higher bitrate to maintain quality. There are several templates out there which adjust the video resolution and audio bitrate to squeeze the maximum amount of video per disk while maintaining quality. Everyone needs to experiment and make up their own mind. I personally don't mind using an extra disk, they're cheap.

if u use the templates that i have, which are 2 pass vbr and if u put half of the movie on one and one on the other, then u wont have a problem with quality. for example if u have a 1:45:00 movie lenght then u would use a 53:00 movie length template and same for the other half. its quite simple and giving very good results. if u need the templates just let me know by email
