  1. I'm using TMPGenc to encode avi I have to mpeg2 so I can play them on ntsc dvd . I read several articles on this web site about frame rates and none are clear about the particular situations I come across. I know that I'm supposed to look up the file information using Virtualdub, and most of my files are either 23.97, 24, 25, 29.97. So my question is if my file 23.97 or 25 or etc , I would like to know what settings I'm suppose to use in TMPGenc. For example interlace or non-interlace, inverse telecine or 3-2 pull down, should I extract the audio with Virtualdub in turn into a uncompressed wav.

    23.976fps (NTSC)=3:2 pulldown when playback
    25fps (PAL)=Interlace
    29.97fps (NTSC)=Interlace

    Hope That Helps!!! :P

  3. So do I have to change the frame rate of PAL 25 to 29.97 ntsc, or do I leave the frame rate at 25 and my dvd player will play it corectly. I had a PAL 25 file and I left the frame rate at 29.97 and the film was sped up , the only way I noticed it was the voices were sounded funny.

Yeah, usually PAL to NTSC results in choppiness and speeding up.
