Backing up DVDs. Including copying all menus and extras. Not to mention retaining all resolution and audio integrity. Only DVD writers under $500.00. Please give reasons for you're choices and list flaws in the drive as well. Thanks.

Yup, it's obvious I'm new to DVD recording. A friend has a Toshiba DVD writer that has definite problems with duplicating more than three menu titles on a DVD. So, I don't believe all DVD writers perform all functions quite the same way. But any recommendations for which units can duplicate the most flawless copies are appreciated.

no they all are. your friends' case is more like likely a software issue, not hardware, or his writer is simply broken

Well, one of the software programs he uses is DVDdecrypter. I don't know the second, perhaps DVDcreator. He can duplicate exactly three menu titles, any attempt to create a fourth leads to a link that doesn't work. This is with both software. Granted the first software is downloaded off the net meaning it may be corrupted, but the result is the same with the second. His unit is about 4 months old. The DVD to DVD rips look excellent, though.
