  1. Hi!
What is the equivalent to TMPGEnc's "3:2 pulldown when playback" option on Mainconcept MPEG Encoder?
In Mainconcept there are two options for pulldown. I'd like to know if the resultant video will be 23.976 (internally 29.97) fps.
    Thanks in advance.

  2. I'd like to know the answer to this as well. I tried an experiment using MainConcept's 3:2 pulldown feature and ended up with file that no DVD authoring program I tried would import. It would appear that it was both 23.976FPS internal and external. The pulldown flag was obviously not set in the MPEG-2 stream. If you read MainConcept's MPEG FAQ on their forum (http://www.mainconcept.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=75), you will see the exact procedure I followed. From my experience I must say that it doesn't work properly.

If someone knows why this won't work or what I could have done wrong I would really appreciate an answer. I like the MC Encoder. The video I've produced with it at NTSC-29.760FPS has looked really good and the conversion has been speedy. At least compared to TMPGEnc which is what I am using to produce NTSC-23.976 with a 3:2 pulldown. I've never had a problem with a file converted by TMPGEnc but it takes so long.

set first to dvd template (first!)

    detailed settings - > frame rate 29.97

advanced setting -> frame rate 23.976 encapsulated film ntsc

advanced setting -> pulldown 3:2 (or 2:3 depending on what it is) ...

look at the input box , if it doesnt say the input video is 23.97 or 24 progressive .. its not going to work ...
