I ran forty-two trying to convert a DVD to DVD-R. It ran for 36 hours and all I ended up with is an .mpg file with no sound. Is there any way to redeem all of the hours I have waited or do I have to start over. I have an ac3 file extracted with 0SeX. I have tried to open the .mpg file with DVDSP but it will not accept it. Any help or suggestions? By the way I am using forty-two 1.5.2.

First off a bin/cue image was not created because of a bug in the split code. Kai et all are working on a fix and it will be out eventually. To use the .mpg file that you have (it does have sound try playing it in VLC) here is what you do. Use Extractor 095 to create the audio and video file from the mpg, this takes about 30 min. Then drop both files into Sizze to make your image; this takes about 30 min. If you try to use bbDEMUX it will crash right before the audio track and MMT will give you lots of small files which are pretty useless. For DVD->DVDR there are faster ways on a mac then 42. However, 42 is the best solution for in sync svcd, vcds and divx files. If you want a one disk DVD use OSEx to extract the .mp2 and .ac3 audio file. Drop those onto the minx transcoder and hit the button. About 3 hours later it gave me a compressed (smaller) .mp2 and I used DVDSP to author that smaller file and the origional .ac3 file into video_ts and audio_ts folders. DVDSP will complain about the size but they fit... trust me Then, use Toast to burn them to a DVD-R(W) and there you go.

  3. Read the manual! Or at least search the boards before posting something that had been answered numerous times..... Quicktime won't play it with sound (it doesn't support ac3 audio).Use VLC or mplayer. To get the mpg into DVDSP run it through pulldown X or something like it....

yeah well I guess reading the manual in this instance is of no use because it's an unpredicted application output However, either solution should work. I personally have not tried pulldown X or your method.

Thanks A@ron for your reply. You are right, it was an unexpected output. When you say Extractor 095, are you talking about DVDExtractor 0.9b? I have used sizzle before for other DVDs so I am familiar with that. And I have also used Transcoder. It is a great program and faster than forty-two but I have had some sync issues with it on a few DVDs. Anyway, I am about to try your suggestions and I do appreciate your reply. I have searched this forum for hours on end on other issues but do not recall reading about the sound issue. Sometimes we newbies miss things and it is refreshing to find someone so willing to help.
