  2. Ok so I played the DVD a bit and it started to work with smartripper got to 50% and froze I tried cladxp ......got stuck again at 50%. So I watched the film again ...only to discover at exactly halfway thru the movie it froze.....So it wasn't a locked file ....it is a corrupt file.....

Never trust blackmarket DVD's,.......there not worth your $2.....or are they????

Lucky for me my friend brought back 10 copies from different shops.....one of them is bound to work....

  4. You are indeed right...

    My solution

I copied of all individual vobs..... except for the last one which was corrupt so I used the vdub mpeg 2 mod and converted it to avi...which gave me the idea to convert them all to avi ......and convert

I converted each vob as an individual peice(which is what I would have got it I were able to use DVD TO SVCD) and got great results. It was a clever little work around if I do say so myself I encode to SVCD it did take about 7 hours to do each peice but hey my computer doesn't have to sleep so I am happy with what I got out and it indeed taught more about ripping and the make up of DVD's.......

Hey... could you give me more info on how you did this? Which files you would need and steps in vdub... I have the same problem and was looking for the solution.

    Thanks.

  6. I was unable to rip all the file .....so smartripper and all of the other must
try and copy a little bit from each one at once....so I decided I would copy one at a time....

    All of them came off

So here is my work around I use Virtual dub mpeg mod (available in the tools section) and opened the vob directly in vdub...in scanned using the mpeg import scan and opened

then with the usually vdub settings (fast recompress picvideo mjepg compress) I saved the avi......bingo a workin avi ....

I once I have them all in avi format (you need a large harddrive or do like I did one vob at a time I used Tmpgenc to convert to SVCD....

I did notice though the first end result was poor and froze so I de mux then mux them again...works seemlessly on all dvd players that I have thrown it in....and have preserved the quality .....

no need to worry about ifo files etc just the vobs.....unless you want subtitles etc well then I can't help you cause I don't know how to do that

    Any questions???
