  3. Have you tried the KristalStudio Divx Codecs. These work great on mpeg and avi files.

    Hi,

I kind of have the same problem, however, instead of there just being pixels the whole .avi is in green, which gots Xvid codex, when it is played in windows media player.

I have the nimo codex on the pc. I also download the Xvid codex, however, that did not work either. Is there a special way to install the xvid that I am doing wrong? Please and thank you.

How would this be fixed? Please and thank you.

    Thank you for helping me.

I downladed Kazaa lite 2.1.0 and installed it the xvid movie did not work in windows media player.

I tried to find the KristalStudio Divx Codecs, however, I did not see that it came with Xvid codec also.

Is there a certian Xvid codec that this pc needs to have inorder for the xvid to play in windows media player? Please and thank you.

I have had similiar problems to what you have. Teh solution was a re-installation of windows. Hopefully you won't have such a drastic resolution.

Make sure you have the latest video drivers for your video card. Sometimes you can't install a new codec without removing the old one. I don't see you saying you removed anything. I also appears you have installed 'some version' of the XviD codec at least 3 times.

Try removing XviD, Nimo, and DivX, remove any other codec you can un-install.

Install a NEW version of XviD (don't bother with the XviD homesite, they don't have compile versions). Install DivX 5.03. Install an MPEG2 codec. Install an AC3 codec. And lastly, the LAME mp3 codec.

This 'should' cover whatever you want to play. You may want the OGG codec pack as well.

The Nimo codec pack is EVIL, leave it alone ( or only install the audio codecs you need from it ).

  10. I dont really get why nimo codec pack is evil or anything...and you did not explain so im guessing it some kind of BS reason

Also many people have been having problems playing the Xvids that is due to the format i believe.

i have downloaded a fourcc changer which you can use to change the format of the whole file so that it plays in WMP correctly.

    Sigh.....

The nimo codec pack has mutually exclusive codecs in it, that is if you 'install all' you have broken some things.

The XviD Codec is old and has problems(it's over a year old).

The DivX Audio codecs will break WMP 8/9.

It installs DivX 3.11, which has issues of it's own with DivX 4 and 5 codecs already installed.

Numerous codecs will install older versions over newer versions, with no prompting.

Like I said, it causes a lot of problems that most people won't ever figure out. You are MUCH better off installing the 5 codecs(DivX 5.03, XviD from Feb 2003, MPEG2 codec, MP3 codec, AC3 Codec and OGG) you need to play all DivX/XviD/DVD/SVCD files along with MP3/AC3 audio ( and OGG for good measure :P )

WMP simply sucks as a player. And which version? WMP 9 is a one way upgrade, you can't uninstall it, and it doesn't like some of the popular formats, despite having the codecs installed.
