  1. Anyone know of any issues running this unit under XP Pro. My system seems to crash and re-boot after constantly accessing this drive to retrive files of a DVD-R (tried a few different ones).

I've burned data onto DVD-RW's running under WIN98 and read them off under win98, but XP Pro cannot see any of the files on the DVD-RW ??

    Very weird.

  2. I have this drive and XP Pro. No problems there for me. When does the crash occur? Are you always running the same program? How about when using the drive with CDs?

  3. It must be all right with CD's as I loaded XP Pro and Office Pro without a problem using the same drive.

I tried to load Encyclopedia Britannica 2003 DVD Ultimate Edition and about quarter/half way it decides to give up saying in the log...user aborted. I tried copying the entire contents of this DVD to my hard disk and the PC crashed and re-boots automatically.
I have another PC with the identical Drive in it running win98 and I carried out both tasks mentioned above without a problem. It can't be the drive as I swapped the units with the same results on the XP machine.

    HELP !
Another thing different between the 2 systems, apart from the O/S is one is connect to the primary master and the other is secondary master...could that be it ????
ANyone with ideas , please help.

    Windows 2000 DVD-ROM Drive Cannot Read Windows XP-Formatted FAT32 DVD-RAM Media

Whoops! You recorded some information on a DVD, using the DVD-RAM drive in your Windows XP computer that you got for Christmas. It works great and Windows XP has no problems reading the files. You send the disk to your friend and he tries to play it in the DVD drive in his Windows 2000 computer. No go! To find out why check out:

  5. Thanks, but I'm not writing to DVD-RAM disks. Although hard disks from both systems are set up as FAT32.

  6. This is a drastic step, but it has helped other hardware problems: Do a "repair" installation of Windows XP. Should not delete any data and will leave your programs installed. Check out this link for how-to:

  7. Thanks.
I will give that a go before I zap the hard disk and try everything again.
