    it gives this message...
"an error accorred when audio is decoded"

the problem seems to be convert from
    48000Hz to 44100Hz...

perhaps i need to install some new codec to get it to working....compressed audio problem or ????

  3. The second option in the link hitechjunkie supplied suggests saving the audio from the avi to wav. I noticed that TMPGEnc can't handle 48kHz MP3 audio. When I extracted it from the avi and saved it as uncompressed PCM wav using VirtualDub it worked fine. TMPGEnc does accept 48kHz PCM wav as audio input source.
I had the same error message as you but solved it by using PCM wav.
