I just updated my Firmware tonight on my Pioneer A05. It went through without any glitches at all. But I have now been reading about some people who are having lots of problems with some media now. Isn't the latest firmware suppose to add more media types and how they are recognized to your drive?
So, tell me guys...do I have need to worry here, or what?

Hey Jenny,
There is a better forum for this question "DVD writers." However, to answer your question. Don't worry. I installed the 1.21 firmware upgrade and all is well. A lot of the issues you hear about is due to bad media and the firmware does not resolve that. I keep reading it's a good idea to stay away from the Princo products. It appears the Ritek product works well with the 05's.

Thanks. It's interesting you said that Ritek's work. I tried some of the 4X ones recently and it wouldn't even recognize them, however, I was using Frimware Ver. 0.50. Hopefully, this new firmware will solve that problem.
Have you tried the Meritline 4X DVD-R's? Or, what other 4X DVD-R's have you tried and have not had difficulty with? Do you use DVD X Copy?
I am just curious as to your experience.
Thanks a bunch.
