I just ordered mine today. Unfortunately, I couldn't get the $50/$200 coupon code to work, but the $40/$200 DID go thru.
Here's the low-down:
$239.94
-$40 COUPON
=$199.94
-$50 MIR
=$149.94 + Tax
It comes with free shipping too. Good deal for a Pioneer A05 DVD-R/RW drive![]()

I was able to purchase this writer at the local staples. With a little coaching of the manager he accepted the $40.00 Staples coupon. You need to have a piece of paper with the Staples coupon number on it. I printed out the Staples flyer add for the burner and "wrote down" the number in pen. He took that. Out the door was $200 (plus gov Davis's cut) and the $50 rebate form in my pocket.
If your'e in a hurry (and who isn't these days?) try a walk in to avoid the mail order hassle. It will give you a chance to practice your negociating skills. -
Actually, since I live in Los Angeles, we get free shipping and orders usually come the next day. My order should be coming in today. I had them deliver it to my job

I would have walked in, but knew it was going to be a hastle for the coupon. Waiting for it to arrive today.

I was hoping someone would put this post in the forum.
I actually walked into the staples in fort worth, TX (377-denton hwy and 820 for the local texans on the forum) and got the burner, walked up to the cashier and told him to input store coupon code 79473. He did and I got $50 off of the burner. The final price with tax (before the $50 mail in rebate) was $205.XX). I was on other sites looking around and its not just for computer stuff. All I can say is wahooo and God bless the internet!!!!!

Same here. I'm in Canada but my Sister lives in Delaware (no sales tax State). She walked into Staples in late January sales $249.99 4x Cendyne DVD-R, used the $50 off $200 code, Cashier punched it in and she left paying $199.99 then mailed in her $50 rebate. Then mailed me the Drive.
Crazy Deals in the good old USA.
Best prices around here are all $400 ($265 USd) or more for Pioneer 4x. Then they slap you with 15% sales tax. -
I just got mine delivered to my work. I can't wait to take it home and start rippin'

Well Bozos at Staples somehow never assigned it a Tracking # for UPS. I called yesterday they still didn't have a tracking # tthey said It will be delivered and I should not worry, I called today (was supposed to be delivered today). I asked them how was I supposed to track it without a tracking #, they had no answer. They said someone will call me within 24 hours. I've seen this before, probably will take another week to get it

for mol3000 and everyone else that uses rebates. I cannot caution enough on the rebate thing and the need to make copies of stuff. Best buy and staples (and my limited experience with Circuit City) have been really good. I have submitted what I feel to be a billion rebates for products at their stores and only had one problem, which appeared at the Thanksgiving day after sale. The rebate form did not print the correct date(s), but when I checked it, I called and had to go back in and get a new form.
Officemax rebate process is horrible, followed closely by Compusa. They are both famous for advertising "free after rebate", however, when you get everything home, you find out that both forms you must send in require original UPC's (and the companies WILL deny your rebate if you do not have the original).
I had a situation a few months ago where I sent in a rebate and after 2 months they sent it back saying that the receipt didnt have a date on it and I had until 12/15 to return it (it was postmarked 1/12/03). What actually happened was their letter opener cut right through the date. Luckily, I scanned in (hint hint) my stuff and fired off an email to them. They did eventually give me my rebate (it was for the XP video professor)
I am currently in a battle with the same company over the ole' dual request for UPC codes (dont both writing on the form saying that there were two rebates requiring UPC's or including a copy of the ad).
So far, Staples has been GREAT in returning my rebates (probably because the rebate center is located about 20 miles away in Texas)
Hmmmmm...thought for the poll "which company stinks at doing rebates" (probably best to list the stores vs. the individual vendors for software). -

I guess I need to get up earlier
Thanks for the tip ! -
Where are yall coming up with this coupon code from???? I called my local staples they tell me theres no such coupon. HMMMMMMM!!!

Looks like Staples is no longer accepting these coupons. I tried last night at 2 different locations and they said that they received some info from their fraud prevention manager and couldn't accept a coupon unless it was a staples coupon with their logo.
Now this is really funny because 2 nights ago I used one of these coupons at the same store and it was the manager who inputed it.
I think they're just doing it on purpose because selling that burner at that price would make them lose money, or not allow them to make enough!!!
Does anyone have a coupon that is printable and has a Staples logo on it. I really want to pick up this drive. At 150.00 or so, that is a great price.
Thanks.

I tried this coupon from ezcoupons with the page from staples both printed & went out to my local staples to get it for 150.00 man i got the 3rd degree interogtion from the manager you could imagine. Asked me where i got it at & shit. After bout 20min. he told me that he wasn't gonna honor that. That those websites try to who-do stores & as far as he knows theres already some charges been filed aganist them from other companys.
