    Can anybody help me with this player? I am not able to play DVD-R or DVD+R media and Thomson customer support just told me it can't. I am sure there must be some way...

    According to the compatability list here, it should be able to play DVD-R. How have you created your DVD. What did you use to encode, author and burn.

    I am using burner SONY-DRU500A firmware 1.0f
    SW : DVDxCopy 1.4.1 - burning with engine GEAR and also NERO
    NERO : 5.5.10.7, burning format DVD-ROM UDF
    Media DVD-R Sony DMR47A
    DVD-RW PioneerDVS-RW47CF
    But nothing works...
