  1. hey all,
i'm trying to save as wav the audio from a ac3 video. when i put "no compression" in the audio settings, it says that the audio is not compatible with the compression and it aks me to choose anither compression.
i think it has to do with the fact that it's an ac3 audio, becuase my other videos aren't ac3 and i have never had this problem before.

    can anyone please help?

    thanks.

    Get the AC3 codec.

  3. I have the ac3 codec, but I still get some that won't extract. Use avi2wav. It works just as good, but you have to manually add the ac3 extention to file when you're finished.
    Sometimes, ya just gotta.....umm, what's the word........FART???

  4. You need to save it using direct stream copy and then use software such as headac3he to convert the file.

you mean open it in virtual dub, just mark "direct stream copy", rthen save it and then convert to mpeg using "headac3he"? does "headac3he" allows subtitles? because i usually frameserve from vb to tmpg.

  6. No, headac3he is just for converting the ac3 audio to 2 channel wav. It is not an mpeg encoder. So you would save the audio stream using direct stream copy in vdub. Rename it to *.ac3, then use headac3he to convert it. This converted audio file can then be used as the audio source in your mpeg encoder such as TMPGEnc.
