Hello, I have a Panasonic DVC. I upload video into either Ulead VideoStudio v5.0 or Adobe Premiere v6.5. I am wondering what process I would have to go through in order to get the very BEST quality out of MPEG-1 format. I saw a sample video from a website a while back, it was such good quality, I thought it was MPEG-2! It was about 12 MB for 49 seconds. I achieved nearly this by using my common programs; VirtualDub v1.4.13 and TMPGEnc Plus v2.510. Long story short, my final product was 17 MB for 1 minute and 7 seconds in length at SVCD. However, I could not load this video file into VirtualDub, I received a "MPEG Filter: Pack Synchronization Error".
Can ANYONE please help me out by giving me a process that I can do so that I will achieve the best quality out of my MPEG-1 videos???
    Thanks!

  2. I have very good success with Premiere 6.0.1 and TMPG Plus. One thing I noticed in your post was that you said that your file was SVCD. SVCD is MPEG2 not MPEG1. That could be the reason it had problems in VirtualDub. Check out the details of the file you downloaded from the website you liked so much. You may be able to match the settings to get something to look almost as good. Usually from Premiere I use a frameserver to go directly into TMPG. It actually looks much better than if I were to make a DVAVI file and take that into Premiere. I tweak on the VCD settings to make a higher quality MPEG or I use the KVCD templates to fit more than an hour on a VCD.

It sounds like the error I get when I load an MPEG-2 file, or the size of the frames are too large. Suggest you download the MPEG2 mod of Virtual Dub.
    Hello.
