  2. First, do a forum search... this question has gone on many times before around here.

Second, you need to be more specific in "best." Do you want the most powerful? That's DVDMaestro or Scenarist. These are high-end programs that'll set you back quite a bit of money. Do you want the most user-friendly or reasonably priced? Those would probably be MyDVD or Ulead Movie Studio. Do a forum search for all of these to find pros and cons.

  3. Best and easiest dont usually go hand in hand. Personally I like Ulead DVD workshop, it has a good combination of being fairly powerfull and yet simple to use.

  4. DVD Architect. Prepare all your clips/films with TMPGEnc then create a DVD with the DVD Architect. This product allows you to make animated buttons and animated backdrops with sound without refering to the manual. It is so easy and yet incredibly powerful. The downside is it is expensive. I just paid $599 for Video Vegas+DVD - Video Vegas V4 and DVD Architect V1. (I reclaim the money through my employer). Money well spent.

Yes, there is a great deal of info here to go through. You should probably decide what features are most important. I wanted to put in a word for
Pinnacle Studio 8-It is inexpensive and extremely easy and powerful. Moving menus, audio on menus, nested menus, it's all there right on the editing timeline. So far the MPEG2 encoder has been good for DVD's-not so good for SVCD's-but I'm going to compare to TMPGENC and probably use the TMPGENC.

Looks like CompUSA has Pinnacle Studio 8 on sale this week for $49.99 after a rebate. Good deal?
