  1. I have a problem and I hope that someone can answer it for me. I have an APEX-500 DVD Player and I am having problems playing my burned VCD's. I know I am burning them right because I put one on a HI-VAL CD-RW and it worked fine. Whenever I try to play one on a cd-r it says no disc on the player. I have tried this with Digital Media cd-r's and Prime Peripherals CD-R's. Are those two types not compatible or are no CD-R's compatible. I would really appreciate any help you could give me.

First, I am going to assume that you truly have an AD-500, and not an AD-500A, 500B, or 500W. (Lots of people seem to think that they're all the same, and they just call their player a "500" -- BIG mistake!)

Assuming that you really do have an AD-500, here's my question: on the front of your player, is the "AD-500" label on top of the tray & display, or under the tray & display?

If it's on the top, then you probably have the version of the AD-500 that cannot read CD-R's and CD-RW's.

There is another version of the AD-500 (with the labeling under the tray & display) that seems to have no problems reading CD-Rs and CD-RWs.
