I have a 16:9 tv and I can video in 16:9 with my dig8 camcorder and it comes out sweet if I plug it into the tv from the video camera . No stretch just perfect. What program can I use to edit and convert to mpeg2 that will keep it 16:9 ? Do I need a special Authuring program too? Right now I capture/edit through Arcsoft Showbiz and authure through Ulead movie factory .

  2. You can just go ahead to edit, convert, author as if it's 4:3. When you play it on the 16:9 TV, it will fit the screen perfectly.
The only trouble is when playing the disc on 4:3 TV, everybody is tall and thin.
I have learned that some DVD authoring software allow you to set the DAR to 16:9, this way the DVD player will add black bars top/bottom for 4:3 TV screen (just like commercial DVD).

I believe Tmpgenc will do what you want.I've tried it by setting the source and video out to 16:9,and it comes out great and plays on my widescreen ok.Like ktnwin says, your tv will do a stretch if it's left in 4:3.
