    Hi all,

I just installed a new pc for editing videos using premiere 6.5 using windows 2000. Was that a wise choice? or sould I upgrade to XP?

  2. Hi,
I found the win2k to be more stable than winxp. On one of my units dedicated just for video editing, processing, etc.,I have win2k pro installed for over a year now, upgraded with sp1, and so far everything has been stable.

    NO! NO! NO !

Dont' touch anything ! Stay on W2K ! It is more stable than XP...

For the moment and according to my experience, for video applications I do (editing, encoding...) W2K is MORE stable than XP...

stop using Windows Media Player for reading your MPEG encoded files...
Use a software DVD player that works so much better....

Forget windows media player, even V9 is not good for MPEG2 playback.

Grab a copy of PowerDVD or WinDVD, much better playback.

    nonsense.

XP is just as stable as 2000.

I do a ton of editing and video work under it:

    Adobe, Vegas, Maya, 3DMax, etc.

My XP box hasn't crashed in the last 2 months since I installed a new processor/mb and it's on 24/7 - generally rendering something.
