    Hello,

    I used NERO 5.5.2.4 to create a VCD menu of 2 pages each
    with 6 thumbnails for my VCD containing 12 mpeg clips. My WinDVD displayed the menu for less than 1 second and switched the display back to WinDVD default picture. VCD menu did not show up since then even I clicked the "play" button.

    The other issue is, when playing the VCD in my Pioneer HTZ 55DV standalone DVD Player, after pressing "play" button on the DVD remote to have the 1st page of menu show up, I was not able to navigate from the 1st page of menu to the 2nd even by pressing "next" button. The ONLY way to get to the 2nd page of menu is play one of mpeg clips listed on the 1st page of menu and navigate through the following mpeg clips by pressing "next" button
    and the 2nd page of menu will show up after the very last
    mpeg clip listed on the 2nd page. It seems to me that the 2nd page of menu was recorded to the track right next to the last mpeg clip. However, in NERO's track-title window,
    those two pages were listed sequentially as track 1 with title 1/2 page and track 1 with title 2/2 page respectively.

    I would really appreciate your time and efforts in
    explaining or resolving the problems!!

    Thank you,

    Ming

  2. I do not know why it does what it does but, I can tell you it has always given me problems with my pioneer player. I have tried several VCD and SVCD. Until the last update of nero the SVCD menus would not work at all. Now they both work the same. You can only display the first page of the menu and only on rare occasions by some magic I do not understand I may get the second page to show but then I can not go back to page 1 or forward to page three. After the last MPG file plays it will display the last menu page. In other words if you have four menu pages, page four will show up after your last MPG. Then of course you will not be able to go to any other menu pages. I can always, however get back to the 1st menu page using return. I can not get to any MPG that is not showing on the currently displayed menu by pressing a number. to reach MPGs not on the displayed page I have to choose one on that page and either let the player play though the mpgs one after another or use next or prev to move to the one I want to play. BTW the SVCD I made using VCD2XML worked great none of the above problems. The problem is obviously with the code generated by Nero.

    I got an email from Anthony MD regarding this problem. He tried it on both his JVC and Apex DVD players and it worked fine. However, NERO does not satisfy him with the menu. He recommends use VideoPack 4.

    It seems like my Pioneer HTZ 55DV and Garbman1's Pioneer DVD
    players are sort of picky on NERO-made VCD menu

  4. Nero 5.5.4.0 does the same thing. I haven't tried other programs as they look a bit complicated. All I want is a simple menu..

  5. ...fyi, this is an old known problem; this problem can be fixed by using vcdxrip/vcdxbuild to repair the broken (S)VCD created by (broken) nero...
    search the forums;

  7. I would recommend that you give TSCV a try (www.ttool.org) you can make some REALLY nice menus with it. Still menus, motion menus, seamless chapters, up to 9 level menu, etc.

    Read the online guides as the program is hard to use without some assistance. But it's pretty easy really. If you are working with MPEG1/VCD instead of MPEG2/SVCD you'll need to manually create a CDI dir and put a few files in it (the guides mention this, the files can be d/loaded or copied from the Nero dir).
